Uruguayan wine produced by Familia Deicas with aromas of red fruits, figs and spices. In the mouth, full-bodied, with a velvety texture and a persistent finish. Producer Information Familia Deicas is a Uruguayan wine producer located in the Canelones administrative department where a majority of the country's wine industry is found. It produces a large portfolio of wines from multiple grape varieities incuding the ubiquitous Tannat. In 1979, the Deicas family acquired the 18th Century estate which to this day remains home to the Establecimiento Juanic brand. The Familia Deicas brand was launched from the estate in 2000 to produce a range of wines focused on illustrating the terroir of the 60 hectares (148 acres) of estate vineyards. The estate is currently managed by the third generation of the family. The flagship range of the Deicas portfolio is the Preludio, a duo of barrel-aged blends. The red is an everchanging blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Merlot, Petit Verdot and occasionally Marselan whilst the white counterpart is a Chardonnay and Viognier. French oak is sourced for the barrel-aging process with only the exceptional barrels bottled. Other notable wines include the Massimo Deicas Tannat of which is soucred from vineyards with a close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. This keeps temperatures moderate throughout the growing season allowing the grapes to ripen without a compromise in acidity level. In the winery, fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel, clay amphora, new French oak barrels and first-use barrels.
