Romeo and Juliet" by San Francisco Ballet, a must-see graceful dance by Kochetkova and Karapetian! Lincoln Center at the Movies," a joint project with the Lincoln Center in New York City. Ballet cinema screenings are becoming established in the United States. The project has so far produced "Ballet Hispanico" and "Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater," and this time "Romeo and Juliet" by the San Francisco Ballet, the oldest ballet company in the U.S., was recorded. Helgi Thomason, the artistic director and choreographer of the San Francisco Ballet, has led the company for more than 30 years since his appointment in 1985, and has attracted ballet fans around the world with his long-standing stable lineup of dancers and intelligent, sophisticated direction. Japanese dancers such as Hosuke Yamamoto, a soloist from the Royal Ballet School, and Koto Ishihara, a dancer of outstanding presence with her blessed height and musicality, are also active in the company.Helgi Thomason's version of "Romeo and Juliet" has been a San Francisco Ballet favorite since its premiere in 1994, and its sublime and passionate choreography, which embodies Shakespeare's famous lines, is a fitting tribute to this timeless masterpiece about tragic love. Two principal dancers, Maria Kochetkova and David Karapetian, will perform this time. Maria Kochetkova is from Russia and has overwhelming leaping ability and expressive power despite her small size.
