General
The Seymour Duncan 78 Model Bridge Humbucker has been overwound to give you the souped-up PAF-style sound that became a thing during the late '70s a time when every big-name guitarist would turn to Seymour Duncan when they wanted a set of custom guitar pickups. In fact, somewhere around 1978, it was none other than Eddie Van Halen who asked Seymour Duncan if he could upgrade the coils of his PAF pickup to gain more harmonics and a bit more output.
The 78 Model Bridge: Warm, Crunchy and Maximum Harmonics
The result of the Duncan x Van Halen collab? The 78 Model humbucker. The reissue you're looking at here has the same specifications as the original upgraded model, so an Alnico 2 magnet and overwound coils that combine to deliver warm, crunchy sound packed out with prominent harmonics, making it perfect for Van Halen-grade licks and riffs. Thanks to the 4-conductor wiring, this bridge pickup also supports coil tapping for single-coil-style voicings.
