Description:
Tartini's violin! This is a collection of duets by the Venetian composer and violinist Lombardini-Gilmen, a masterpiece of duet music by two virtuosos. She was a music student at the Mendicanti (a Venetian school similar to the Piet where Vivaldi taught) and was a very talented violinist, so she was allowed to study with the great musician Tartini in Padua. However, due to the restrictions of the conservatory, she was not allowed to leave immediately, so Tartini wrote her a letter about his method. This letter was published in 1770 by Tartini's pupils as a valuable instructional book, and an English translation by Charles Burney was published the following year. Over the next five years, Lombardini-Gilmen learned directly from Tartini. Since becoming an independent musician, Lombardini-Zirmen has traveled extensively throughout Europe, and his compositions have been widely published by various publishers in Paris, Holland, Germany, and London, demonstrating his extraordinary talent. The "Violin Duet" on this album is a technical masterpiece that combines the delicacy of the Classical period with the sumptuous acoustics of chamber music. It should not be overlooked that the concert was performed by two virtuosos, Zefira Valova, concertmaster of Il Pomo d'Oro, and Iskrena Yordanova, concertmaster of Divino Sospiro.
